Manuscript paper is judged by one thing: whether the staff is big enough to write in. This generator lets you set the distance between staff lines, so you can fit ten staves for sketching or four large staves for teaching and annotation.
Choosing a size
A 2 mm staff line gap is standard for handwriting. For young students or annotation during a lesson, 3 mm or 4 mm is much easier to work with.

What is the standard staff line spacing?
Roughly 1.75 to 2 mm between adjacent staff lines is typical for printed manuscript paper. Wider spacing is easier to write in but fits fewer staves per page.
How many staves fit on a page?
On Letter or A4 portrait at 2 mm spacing you will get eight to ten staves. Landscape roughly halves that count but gives longer measures.
Can I print manuscript paper in landscape?
Yes. Landscape is the usual choice for choir and conductor scores, and for sketching long melodic lines.
